My therapeutic approach is grounded in four core values, no matter what therapeutic modality is being used.

Empathy and Acceptance.

Authenticity.

Collaboration.

Empathy + Acceptance

Empathy and acceptance bring safety and depth to the therapeutic relationship. Empathy allows me to step into my client's world. To understand their perspective, values, and difficulties, and to connect with their feelings. When paired with acceptance, empathy creates a safe space for clients to access and attend to their feelings — even ones that have been buried or avoided in the past.

Authenticity

Authenticity brings freedom and familiarity to the therapeutic relationship. I practice authenticity with my clients so that they can also feel comfortable being their whole, human selves in session. When the therapeutic space is both familiar and accepting, clients are able to be honest with themselves (important for growth) and also within the therapeutic relationship (important for collaboration).

Collaboration brings effectiveness and empowerment to the therapeutic process. We work as a team: you have the data (no one knows you like you!) and I have the training that will help us make sense of it. You play an active part in your own progress by creating goals, noticing growth or blocks to growth, and giving feedback on interventions. At the end of therapy, you should feel empowered to continue growing on your own.
